2011 Little Miss/Preteen Miss Heartland Pageant
THE COMPETITION
The Opening Number will be ???? (it's a surprise -- even to us, right now). Contestants will NOT be dancing, just some walking. Contestants will be dressed in Casual Wear during the Opening Number and immediately proceed to the Casual Wear and Onstage Introduction Competition.
CASUAL WEAR and ONSTAGE INTRODUCTION: Contestants may wear jeans and a sweatshirt, sundresses, jumpers, mini skirts, shorts, etc... This should be something from her closet -- something that's fun, fits her personality, and something she likes to wear. While in Casual Wear each contestant will do an onstage introduction to include her name, hometown, and contestant number. Contestants will be judged on appearance, charm, poise, and personality. Casual Wear and Onstage Introduction will account for 40% (Little Miss)/20%(PreTeen Miss) of each contestant's total score.
FORMAL DRESS: Contestants may wear a pageant dress or their "Sunday best" -- short or long. The dress should not overpower the child and should be age appropriate. Contestants will be judged on appearance, charm, poise, and personality. Formal Dress will account for 60% of each contestant's total score.
TALENT (PreTeen ONLY): PreTeen contestants MUST compete in Talent. Little Miss contestants will NOT compete in Talent. The talent must be no longer than 2 minutes. Attire for the talent should compliment your talent choice. CD's are due by September 12, 2010. Talent is judged on costume, entertainment value, stage presence, degree of difficulty and overall performance. Talent will account for 20% of each PreTeen contestant's score.
PHOTOGENIC (OPTIONAL): Additional $15 entry fee. One photo, 5x7 or 8x10, either black and white or color. NO DIGITALLY ALTERED (touched up) photos will be accepted. Again, these are children and the photos SHOULD LOOK LIKE CHILDREN. Photos will be judged on potential print ad ability. Photos should be labeled, on the back, with the name of the contestant. Photos, with entry fee, MUST be submitted not later than September 12, 2010. Photos WILL be returned the afternoon of the pageant. This is an optional competition.
